Sweet Child O' Mine

She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that
special place
And if I stared too long
I'd probably break down and cry

Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine

She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me
of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by

Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine

Where do we go
Where do we go now
Where do we go
Sweet child o' mine

boxing day, the day after x'mas where ya assess the presents and search for receipts to turn them in for something better at the stores.

most interesting gifts i've seen exchanged this x'mas!
-eraser-dirt-scooping cum toy car thingy
-massaging pebble mat ( for ben )
-keychain with bone biting dog
-smiley face coin bank

but i must say that the clear winner is the "book of answers" hahahaha
its literally as the name suggests, a book filled with answers like 'yes', 'you will need to work on it', 'maybe' etc. printed on the right hand side of each page. so when ya faced with a problem, just flip the thick book and randomly stop to get the anwswer to your question. how covenient.

for all ihg teams that use the west coast field (next to macs) for trainings, now we'll have to find some other place to train. the reason being, they have banned all "team ball games" on that main field with effect from today.
actually, its kinda our fault, cos when we were down there on tuesday for our friendly against the safsa ppl, this old malay park ranger came on his bike to tell us that we couldnt play ball games on that field since it was a kite flying area. come on, a field is a field right? i could see some little mat boys kicking a soccer ball around la. furthermore the field is so freakin big, there is no way we can bother the kite flyers in any way. so, enwei and i refused to budge and told the park ranger "i suggest you put a big sign down here so people can see"
these national parks people are damn efficient, this morning, in the middle of our training, they sent three banglas to nail this big sign on the post in front of us. oddly enough, it says: "..please refrain from playing team ball games on this field.." i'm thinking, why TEAM ball games, and why team BALL games, its damn obvious that its aiming us. so if i play with a ball by myself is it still counted? so if i have a team of guys running around playing catching is it still counted? come on la, jus let us use the bloody field. otherwise i gotta get the guys to go down to the src field which has been raped by everyone else.

btw haha

was chatting with some friends over dinner at piazza last week when we chanced upon a conversation about toys. as we know, its xmas again and the television and papers are full of commercials advertising for the latest toys and games on the market. then we talked about the popular toys during our childhood, captain planet and stuff. when i suggested my favourites, i was appalled that nobody remembered m.a.s.k and centurions! (no i'm sure i'm not that old) well they rememembered carebears, smurfs, dick tracy, transformers, gi joes etc. which were either resurrected from the dead in recent years or have evolved beyond recognition e.g. gi joes extreme, all new transformers blah blah. but nobody remembered the forgotten superheroes! i still faithfully have remnants of the m.a.s.k rhino, condor and thunderbird vehicles in my store man sigh..

to the forgotten superheroes of my youth, i salute you.

A Tribute:

back from a week's vacation, from the frigid chill of china to the sunny warmth of singapore. during which my family and i visited macau, zhuhai, guangzhou and panyu. unfortunately ben had school so couldnt come along.
the trip back to my motherland (hurhur) was a real eye-opener. china's the land of overenthusiastic, overly loud, and overzealous ppl. when they say that its the most populous country in the world, they definitely arent jokin. theres not a single alley or street where the chinaman isnt around, sometimes it gets so crowded ya feel dizzy. chinas also the place to get super-genuine-lookalike fakes of anything under the sun. nike shoes for s$11?! the entire 'lost' season two dvd set for s$30?! they even fake electronic gadgets like ps2 and psp!! my faith in the branding system has been completely shattered. oh and i witnessed a demonstration in macau too haha, something about the wto in hongkong. culturally, this trip has also enriched me greatly as i got to see ancient artifacts from the shang dynasty, han dynasty, and even the warring states period. it makes me wanna laugh when during ssa2211 derek hengs so proud of his 16th century pieces of crap excavated from the fort canning area.
on a serious note though, i have new found respect for the chinese. china's no doubt on the rise. bridges can be built overnight, buildings erected in a blink of an eye. to those who think little of the chinese in school maybe you are all greatly mistaken. the chinese tenacity and dilligence will one day be a force to be reckoned with. china does not need us, we need china, really, with china's history and people, singapore's really a speck of dust. coming from an anglophile like me, its gotta mean something.

check this new place out! it's sweet..

Balcony Bar @ The Heeren
Here's a spot to park yourself when the shopping gets though. Situated in the Heeren's newest extension, the Balcony Bar is a 24 hour café-bar, with an alfresco cafe and a lounge on the second level where music will be spun live by DJs. The 4,000 square foot outfit is run by LifeBrandz and precedes the company’s larger project, the Ministry of Sound, which is slated to open in December 2005. Executive director of LifeBrandz, Clement Lee says that the Balcony Bar reiterates the trendy bars on the Spanish island of Ibiza. Catered to the young, clubbing set, international and local DJs have been lined up to man the turntables. They include Buddha Bar’s resident DJ Ravin and Ibiza’s Café Mambo resident DJ Pete Gooding.

the YC ppl and i attended CHOICE retreat over the weekend. though the retreat kinda sucked, i think the st mikes youths are the only christian youth grp in singapore so full of shit that there's never quite a boring moment haha.
neway attending the retreat did make me think a little about life. well not so much the content of the retreat but the retreat in general.
i wonder if there's a need to ponder so deeply about life as some of the topics during retreat addressed. personally, i've always felt that life's not as complicated as we make it out to be. sometimes theres actually no problem but because we think too much thats why problems occur, the simpler ya are the happier you'll be. i've always believed in letting things take its natural course and go with the flow. life's a game, ya may be shocked at this statement, but yes, life's jus a game with high stakes, in fact everythings jus a game, and ya must play hard to win the game. am i being too simplistic and shallow? is it actually a good thing to reflect deeply about matters of life? when i voiced my opinion to sister josephine, she replied "if you think like a chicken, you will live the life of a chicken." chim sia.. but maybe its true? and i've been an ignorant prick all this while?

"When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned." - Mark Twain
